Wedding Day Grooming Tips for The Stylish Groom
When wedding season approaches us, we often think of the bride and her preparations for the ceremony. The hair, the makeup, the dress, the veil – the entire ensemble right out of a fairy tale. However, in this profile of matrimony, the groom seemingly becomes overlooked. Well, we think the groom should primp and preen, as well! To that extent, we have put together a manual of sorts, a grooming cheat sheet for the big day. Grooms: dial in, take note, and look damn fine at the altar by following these tips!
Care for Your Hair
Taking care of your mane should be a top priority for wedding day. Let’s face it, nobody ever wants to have a bad hair day. Through proper treatment and routine, you can greatly reduce your chances of the dreaded BHD and focus on looking stylish. While it’s a good idea to keep your hair clean, be sure to not overdo it. Find a shampoo that is best for your hair type, and use it no more than three times per week. Over-washing hair can make it brittle and dry, and leave it looking less than your best. Use a conditioner in order to bring the shine and bounce back to your hair – this will keep your locks healthy and strong. Utilize an appropriate styling product for your desired look, keeping in mind that products like pomade will feature a low hold/high shine element, as opposed to a clay, which features low shine/high hold. A little dab will do you just fine, try and not paste on the product. By following these simple steps, you hair is sure to look amazing for the wedding day photos and beyond.
Be Kind to Your Skin
The skin is our largest organ, and as such, it’s very important to take care of. Facial skin care should be a top priority, and cultivating a healthy glow will help your overall appearance. Start in the morning by exfoliating – this will rid your skin of excess oils and open your pores, and also remove dead skin cells. Exfoliating is very beneficial skin preparation prior to shaving, as well; it will get your face primed and ready for a close shave! Be sure to use a sharp, multi-blade razor for the closest shave, and be sure to follow the natural grain pattern of your facial hair. If you sport scruff or a beard, make sure to keep it well maintained, and consider using a beard balm or oil. After taking care of your facial hair, use some lotion to moisturize your face in order to keep the skin good and hydrated. In the evening before hitting the hay, consider using a facial cleanser in order to remove the gunk and grime that accumulates throughout the day. Sticking to a facial routine is a surefire way to make sure your skin is looking clear, vibrant, and healthy.
The Finishing Touches
As you’re prepping for the big day, there are several tips and tricks you can use to keep your appearance and aura dynamite. Consider wearing a fragrance – strong memories can be associated with scent, leaving you and your partner with nostalgia when smelling the fragrance for years to come. When applying your fragrance, make sure that you spray it on your skin (not your clothing), the best place to spray is on your neck. And remember, with cologne or any fragrance, less is more! Carrying a tube of lip balm is a veteran move; your partner will be much more excited to smooch without dry, cracked lips. An added benefit to lip balm is the addition of sunscreen, try and shoot for SPF 15 to avoid any burned lips! Use a body lotion on your skin to enhance its softness and avoid any dryness; moisturizing tattoos will also make them “pop” and come back to life. By following these tips and having your appearance in order, you will be looking fly as you say, “I do!”
