Walnut Festival Invitational Twilight Parade
“Building Dreams and Making Memories”– that was the theme of the 82nd Annual Walnut Festival Invitational Twilight Parade and you better believe Bishops was there. You should know by now, WE LOVE A PARADE!
The parade was held on September 15, 2018 and kicked off at 6:00 pm. Fellow participants represented a variety of schools, businesses, and non-profit groups from the local Walnut Creek community. It was a fun time for all!
The first Festival was held in 1911 and actually was a celebration of the harvest of grapes and you guessed it, it was called ‘The Grape Festival’. During prohibition, grapes were replaced with walnuts as the cash crop of the area and in 1936, the harvest celebration became known as The Walnut Festival. As Walnut Creek has grown, and suburban developments have replaced walnut groves, the Walnut Festival Association has maintained the tradition of producing fundraising events like the Walnut Festival and Invitational Twilight Parade for the benefit of the community. The location has changed over the years but the spirit remains the same. Bishops Cut/Color loves being part of the community this way. We’re more than the best local hair salon, we’re the best local hair salon that cares.
