My name is Megan Simpson. Many people know of me due to my hair or lack thereof. I never could have imagined the opportunity that shaving my head would bring me!
Why’d I do it? I don’t know, I’m just figuring myself out like the rest of you, and I always wanted to know what it would be like to have hair shorter than my shoulders. The shoulder length was always terrible. Before the big chop, my mother reminded me of the tears I shed every time I cut it.
Many view a major change to the hair as a lack of control, but that crazy 2020 year gave me space to TAKE control of my life. I decided to get an undercut. I knew the cut was going to look really cool or just hilariously horrible, and I was ready to take either outcome as a win. My hair stylist at Bishops, Christian (https://www.instagram.com/cosmobychristian91/), was excited when I told him the plan, because when Christian and I first met, I warned him that we would never do anything more than a trim to my long locks – funny how things change. Since then, I have been completely bald, bleached my hair, tried a mohawk, had some flowy fun pixie cut, and now we are back to an undercut/bob for now.
I was afraid of the negative comments I would inevitably receive from others, especially shaving it all off, but those comments were significantly outweighed by positivity. You can follow my entire hair journey on my Patreon account (www.patreon.com/megansimpson) with the rest of my amazing supporters! And yes, I am totally going to shave my entire head again!
Aside from hair, all of my time and energy gets poured into health/fitness, business, and my 2 dogs. I am a national level olympic weightlifter – something I previously labeled impossible for me to do. I own a personal training company called Revolutionary Health and Fitness (RevFit) with my husband, Ryan. There are so many reasons we started RevFit, but at the end of the day, it’s in the name – we want to revolutionize the health and fitness industry by shifting people’s perception of themselves and their ideas of what it means to be healthy. We are changing the world one person at a time!
I am beyond grateful for this life I have built for myself. I am happier, healthier, stronger, more confident at 29 years old than I have ever been in my entire life, and it is only going to get better from here. I am looking forward to more changes to my hair and continuously growing as an athlete, coach, business owner, wife, and dog mom. I embrace where I am while understanding there is always room for improvement 🙂
