Lending a helping hand is always the right idea

We teamed up with our local Portland Stand Down event for the third year in a row to give haircuts and beard trims to homeless and at-risk veterans. With an estimated 48,000 homeless vets around the U.S., Bishops is happy to do anything we can to help and look forward to contributing to this event every year.

This community-led partnership combined local nonprofits, government officials, corporations and businesses to welcome over 300 veterans. Veterans attending Stand Down events can receive referrals to other assistance such as health care, housing solutions, employment, substance use treatment and mental health counseling.

These events happen all over the country and organizers always on the lookout for volunteers to donate their time, expertise and love. With Veteran’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get involved. Get to it here.
