Kevin Peddicord First Friday Art Show

Bishops Cuts/Color Downtown Raleigh in The Dillon is hosting artist, Kevin Peddicord and his art on March 1st from 6PM to 9PM for First Friday. Originally a native of Columbia, Maryland, Kevin Peddicord moved to North Carolina in 1991.  His primary work is figurative painting in oils and acrylics, as well as watercolor and pen and ink drawings. A fan of cinema and pop art, Peddicord’s style reflects that.

“I paint figures in a realistic style, but I try to give my subjects definite characteristics that often border on the absurd. I’ve done a number of works that reference iconic film images and others that create a narrative in a single image. I count comic books, pulp art and classic movie posters as influences in my paintings. And, oftentimes, humor!”

The Raleigh staff is excited to host the local artist and looking forward to connecting with clients and the community in this way. The first Friday of every month, Downtown Raleigh showcases its art, music and food during its First Friday Gallery Walk. It’s a free self-guided tour and a chance to visit art galleries, studios, alternative art venues and local businesses– like our gender neutral hair salon! Museums stay open late, live music is plentiful, and many restaurants and retailers offer specials. First Friday is the perfect opportunity to visit our friendly hair cuttery if you’ve never stopped by the barber shop before!
