Introducing Bishops Gresham Manager Rose Otzoy

Bishops Gresham is one of the original Bishops locations, having opened in September 2011. We are pleased to welcome Rose Otzoy as the new manager for the shop having taken over for her predecessor who had been in the same position since the shop opening. We sat down to talk shop over 10 questions.
Hi Rose. Nice to meet you! Tell us about yourself. Where are you orginally from? How long have you been doing hair? I’m a Portland native I’ve been doing hair for 10 years in the Portland/Gresham area.
Awesome! Tell us how you got started in hair journey? What made you first fall in love with doing hair?
Ever since I was a child the beauty industry has always intrigued me, to be a part of building someone’s confidence, starting their lives over or being able to express themselves. its a powerful moment to watch people become themselves through their hair!
How did you find out about Bishops and in your mind what makes Bishops unique?
I started working at Bishops in 2019. I love Bishops for it uniqueness for its inclusivity for its pride of welcoming all people.
Please tell us what your favorite services that you love to do and what hair trend or trends do you hope becomes more popular.
I’ve always loved cutting and styling hair. One of my favorites are the French bob and mullets. I absolutely love stacked a lines. They are so much fun to do. and definitely wished that they were more popular.
What motivates or inspires you in hair?
My customers are my inspiration they’re who motivate me each day . They are who inspire me and push me each day to be better than the day before.
What is your personal style mantra if you have one?
I am a walking ball of glitter and pink. I love dressing up, standing out. I put pride into my outfits every day I love style. I love dressing out of the box fashion is something I absolutely love!
What are 3 favorite products you’re using right now at the shop?
Hands-down, some of my favorite products is a combination of
Uppercut salt spray and
texturizing powder. It always gives off the best textured look for so many different styles and who doesn’t love
Sebastian dark oil mist it’s light it smells amazing. It keeps hair, sleek, and shiny and looking phenomenal.
What advice would you give your younger hairstylist self?
I would say it is so important to jump right in to never let fear stop you from growing and learning , never let your fear control your story in life.
What are your passions and hobbies outside of hair?
My passions are my family if I’m not at work I’m with my children and my husband. They are my whole world. I I absolutely love painting doesn’t matter what it is if it’s a canvas and I have paint I will paint anything up paintbrush going!
Do you have a life motto or ethos? What would it be?
Be a good human because we never know what anyone is going through and sometimes a kind smile can make the difference in someone’s day!
