A Very Queer Health Fair
Bishops Seattle are proud partcipants in Seattle’s A Very Queer Health Fair. Saturday, February 22nd, Bishops will be onsite providing free haircuts at the event. The fair, organized by UW iDenTity, UW School of Dentistry’s only LGBTQTSIA+ organization, will be bringing a fully equipped mobile dental van providing full dental services. Other UW LGBTQTSIA+ student-led organizations from the UW campus, such as unicoRN from the UW School of Nursing and QTPT from the UW School of Physical Therapy, will also provide health services, screenings, resources, and more. The free event aims to do the following:
1) To break down barriers and increase access to inclusive and comprehensive healthcare
2) To bring the queer community together with queer health professional students in an authentic and purposeful way
3) to cultivate a space for the queer community from all our diverse backgrounds to gather and share in the things we want and need.
4) to connect in meaningful ways that show that health is more than healthcare
Amongst the other services and events available at the fair will be free Reiki sessions, sleep hygiene counseling, Sex ed, queer specfic resources available through Gay City and Ingersoll and a vogue preformance by House of Essence. A comprehensive list is available here.
